Halloween 2012

Halloween.  James went as Darth Vader.  Isabel was a Witch.  Wyatt went as a Fireman.  Cody went as a baby Tiger.

It was super duper hard for James to decide this year.  We went to the costume store with him fully intending to be a storm trooper.  But when we got there, he was disappointed in his choices.  So, after a few tears, I convinced him to go as Darth Vader.  For one, it's his favorite character from those movies, and second, I had everything for it but a shirt.  He wasn't too happy about it, but he agreed.

Meanwhile, Isabel walks in, finds a super spiffy skirt and calls it good.  She was so set on getting the skirt I really didn't know what to tell her.  It didn't go with any one costume, per say, so I told her we could add some fun accessories and make it into a witch costume.  She was all about that - as long as we could spray paint her hair pink.  Typically, Isabel wants to be something beautiful (i.e. a princess) so I was super shocked when she wanted to go as something a little on the icky side.  Oh, and she also insisted on face makeup.  She wanted a purple face with pink eyes.  Ok...

Big Wy was my favorite!  He walked around the costume shop taking it all in and then declared "I want to be a woo woo man."  Translation:  fireman.  Great!  That is the perfect costume for him!  He is way into big trucks right now and guy stuff.  Plus, I already had that costume at home!  ;-)

And Cody.  Well - I had seen that adorable tiger costume at Target when Grammy was out (before he was even born) but I didn't buy it because we didn't know if Quatro was going to be a boy.  Seriously, the second day home from the hospital I drug Grammy back to Target and snatched it up!  And it turned out to be just as adorable on him and I figured it would.

Me?  Well, I went as a new mom, of course!  Can't you see the bags under my eyes and the exhaustion in my face?  hehe

My solution to James Darth Vader costume issue.  A blank t-shirt and a little fabric paint and viola!

I ended up filling in the collar part with gray, but this is pretty much what the final product looked like.  He was SO happy with it!  And all his friends at school were freaking out that it was homemade!  ;-)  Which, made him happy.

Cody pre-Halloween.  He's just adorable.

See - I told ya he was adorable!

I love the back of this Halloween shirt E has on.  She is getting to be so tall and so grown up lately!

Big Wy is in a super cute phase right now.  Well, actually, he's always in a super cute phase - but he's a big ham right now.

Don't ask me where he pulled this idea out from!

Halloween Morning.  I thought it would be fun to make Witches Brew Pancakes for the kids.  They were super excited to see the batter turn green but they refused to eat the pancakes!  What?  However, the pigs were extremely thrilled with them.  ;-)

Halloween Day

Even small man got into the spirit.

Izzy right before we left to Trick or Treat.  She nixed the face paint (saying it was too ugly) but was still super excited about her hair.  I think her costume was super fun!  And it fit her personality to a T.

James.  Star Wars right down to his socks!

Cody was super duper sleepy by time to leave.  He was pretty much on his own while I got the other 3 ready.  Yeah - that wasn't too popular with him.

This girl is hilarious!

All 4 of them.  Big Wy wasn't in costume yet.  I decided to let him put his on moments before we took off so he wouldn't have to eat with it on.  (We met up with a group for hot dogs and trick or treating...)

Underneath the mask James was "Anakin Skywalker after he turned to the dark side."  (His words)

Here we are!

Big Wy was by far my favorite!  He just looked so so cute in his little fireman costume.  But my favorite part was when people would say "Aren't you just the cutest little fireman?" and he'd answer "No, woo woo man!"  haha  And then he'd say "Trick treat" and he never forgot the "Tank you!"  Ah, that little boy just steals my heart!
Our Group

I wondered this year as I was out walking the kids around:  I'm not sure if it is more fun to be a kid or to be a parent watching your kid.  When I was a kid, I use to love trick or treating!  Now, I think it is awesome for different reasons and I feel like I enjoy it more than I did even as a candy hungry child.  I had such a great time watching my kids delight in the fright.  I use to love Halloween so much for this very reason - but now I think I love it because I get to sit back and watch my little ones love it.  And of course, I'm always super proud of how polite they are.

This is how me and the Code Man rocked the walk.

After it was all over, me and Cody were super duper exhausted!  The kids were strung out on Candy, but me and Cody slept for a good 6 hrs straight!  Whew!  What a fun first Halloween he had!

The Kids' costumes are adorable and fit their personalities to a "T." Even Izzy's witch costume makes her the "cutest witch ever." Loved your write-up of Halloween and why you love it so much.
