Keeping BBQ & Ice Cream Joints Safe

Aunt Myrt made matching T-Shirts for all the kids. Tell me this isn't the cutest thing you have ever seen? Each shirt had a family slogan on the back, while the front sported a gold star. Inside the star was the kids name and years of service in the family. Example: "Deputy James. 4 Yrs Service." They all loved them!

Notice a few extra family members in these pictures? Yup - Great-Grandpa and Barbara surprised us with a visit! What better welcome than to take them to BBQ! And when we do BBQ, we do BBQ. First Snows, where we pounded the pork loin and ribs. And then Mueller's upon finding out Snows was out of brisket!

Yes, that is my baby gnawing on a rib bone!

No comment ;-)

2 back to back BBQ stops? Are we crazy? No, we actually took about 20 mins and stopped to look at the stockyard first!

I'd say the kids highlight of the day was the cattle auction. Truth be told, it was probably my highlight as well. The room was full of the toughest looking dudes I'd ever seen. James was captivated the whole time. Izzy just thought the auctioneer kept saying "strawberry."

Those are cute shirts! You have had a busy summer. That's so neat even great-grandpa came out. Can't wait to catch up with you in person tomorrow.

Adorable kids and cute, cute T-shirts. What a fun family activity -- looks like everyone enjoyed it all ('specially the great food).
