Little Miss Dressup

My little girl just loves to play dress up! She has been known to rummage through laundry piles, pick out something she deems adorable, and then prance around the house with it draped around her neck. It's hilarious and so cute!

One of the things I'm going to put in her new room is a little dress up box. Filled with pretty fabrics and bright colors and beads. I started on it yesterday...this is what it lead to:

Nothing like a pair of church-dress bloomers

Naturally, they go on the head

Obviously James had to try it. Those two just crack me up!

Old Mother Hubbard

Lunch time always makes me feel like Old Mother Hubbard. I go to my cupboard, only to find I'm out of ideas for lunch meals. What do y'all feed your kids every day? Mine grow tired of PB&J/Mac'n'Cheese constantly. :-)

Big Girl Room

This is the room that I built. Ok, I didn't build it build it, but I dreamt it up, designed it, painted it, and finally completed it this past weekend. And I'm pleased with it. Make that beyond pleased. It's just dripping with cute!

HGTV must be paying off for me or something. I don't think I have a knack for decorating. Like, at all. But Izzy's room blew my creativity brain and skills to new levels.

I still have a lot of wall stuff to hang, but you'll get the general idea from these pictures.

Ready to stripe

Isabel was eager to help

Taped and ready to start

First the green

Then the white

Then the chair rail (and about 15 thousand coats of white paint on the rail to hide the nails!)

Getting things set up

The bedding that inspired it all

I learned a valuable lesson during this project: If you are a perfectionist, do NOT try to do stripes on walls with texture. I spent countless hours with a detail brush trying to straighten out my lines. Why? Because I knew they were crooked! There has to be a better way.

I'll post a few pictures of the totally completed room as soon as I reach that point. There is a window shade on its way, a shelf that needs to be hung, and a few wall details I'm going to add. Once I get there, you'll see a new post. Until then, you can find me hanging out in Izzy's room adoring the cute!

**UPDATE**
I just added the wall letters that my sister-in-law so lovingly hand painted! Thanks Myrt - they are absolutely perfect!!!!!

You heard it here first...or second....or third

Yes, I am pregnant. You know its time to make the announcement when a random neighbor passing by says "Oh! When are you due?" And that was at 9 wks! Woe, woe is me!

That aside, we are very excited that baby #3 is on its way! Sometime around the end of Jan/beginning of Feb!

Independence Day 09

This year for the 4th we did a little cooking on the smoker, took the kids to the lake, made some homemade ice cream, and saw 2 firework shows! Here's a few visuals:

James helping me make the ice cream - he thought it was loud, but awesome

Pancho and James huckin' rocks into the lake

The kids (I love the look on Izzy's face!)

The Guys

The Gals

Us camped out with the Woof waiting for fireworks to start

Transformation

JL has been putting some serious tender loving care into his new trailer! Here are a few before and after shots of his work.

Trailer Before - The day we bought it.

Trailer Post-Sanding - JL used his new grinder he got from James for Fathers Day to grind away all the rust.

Trailer With Primer - Rustoleum, if you please.

Trailer Painted - Shiney black with side-walls attached.

Trailer Complete - It looks BETTER than new!!!

Tah-Dah!

Rescue Woof

I have rescued a Mini Van and brought it home to live with us. Sadly, my old hotness Infiniti had to find a new home with two loving (younger) people, but such things happen when kids start to take over.

We have affectionately named the new Van Woof. I saw a bumper sticker ages ago that simply said Woof and loved it. Course, I had figured to put it on my new Sequoia/Suburban at the time. But, nevertheless, it found a home on the new Van and thus gave us the name.

I will admit, it is convenient with the kids. I don't have to stoop down and twist myself around in all crazy ways to make sure I don't bonk the kids' heads on the roof each and every time I try to get them in and out. Also, it's got PLENTY of storage/cargo room. I can pretty much put everything I want to in it, plus a few things I never knew I needed until now.

So, I guess I'm a (deep swallow) Van owner now. Joy.
