Now I know what you are saying, because I have said it too. "They are too small, they wouldn't hold my groceries." "They are a gimick for the stores to make a few extra bucks." "I'll buy them next time I'm here." Well stop with the excuses and just get some!
Just look at all the stuff they were able to put into just 2 of my bags:
Start small. Buy two at your next grocery trip. They are like .99 each! And believe me, you will love them! I bought 2 here at our local grocery and they gave me 2 free (a promo because it was Earth Day.) I had a basket full of groceries and thought 'there is no way my stuff will fit in 4 of these bags!' But you know what - it did! And I immediately fell in love with them - and then later kicked myself for being such a slacker and not making the investment YEARS ago.
These things have been around for at least the last couple of years. They are made of a durable poly something or other material and are surprisingly strong! Plus, they have awesome handles! No more plastic bag handle breakage! AND they have a flat bottom so they sit up nicely in your trunk! No more apples rolling all over because you took that turn home too sharp!
Trust me - BUY SOME! You won't regret it. The only trick is remembering to pull them out of the trunk when you're at the store.......... NOT THAT I KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THAT! hehe
(And for all you non-locals.....you can get these things at Target and Wal Mart. Pick some up and use them anywhere and everywhere you shop!)

I've got a butt-load of Target reusable shopping bags. I love them as well. They hold so much stuff and I can feel good about doing something good for the environment as well. I keep them in a stack right next to the driver's seat so I remember to use them every time.
I love the blog!! I have been considering these and was wanting to hear from someone I know and trust to tell me what they think! .99 cents isn't much but you can get 2 tubs of baby food for that, so I didn't want to waist a couple bucks getting them. but it sounds like the durability alone might be worth it so you don't end up digging canned goods out from under the seat when the bag boy puts all the soups in one bag!
Hi Lisa,
You know, years ago when I lived in The Nethelands, I thought it was a good idea how the Dutch did that, but often felt kind of ripped off that they didn't provide shopping bags. We Americans are about 25 years behind this bandwagon...someday I might just do it too. I usually buy a ton at once, so I'd have to get a ton of bags. But the idea of picking up two here and there isn't bad. Good job, Lisa.
Okay, you totally convinced me. We'll see if my full shopping cart will fit in 4 bags, I'm going to hold you to it now. And you've been shopping with me!
By the way, I hope you are feeling better.
I'll be getting some, especially since HEB is now charging 15 cents per plastic bag.
Okay, good point. The flimsy groceries bags just really don't cut it!
