Since James was a newborn, a standard wall-plug, plain Jane, yellow illuminating, night light has done the trick. But, about a month ago he started to become afraid of the dark. He would complain about being scared and wanted to sleep with his lamp on (which we did for a while). But that kept his room so bright, he'd wake up at 4am and assume the sun was up and it was time to play. Um, yeah no. That wasn't going to work out.
So I began looking for an alternative. What I found is my new favoritest thing EVER! This thing charges up all day and then lights up his room with a nice, soft, green glow all night. And it is his new favorite buddy. He's not afraid anymore as long as "Mr. Glowie" is there to "keep the dark away." And the best part is, it's mobile so if he gets extra worried in the night, he just snatches it off his bookcase and brings it to bed with him. I'm totally going to get Isabel Jeanne the pink one when this becomes an issue for her as well.

I just recently saw these too! I thought they looked like a really good idea!
The kids both received the light up turtle / ladybug night lights that make constellations on the ceiling. They're cool too, but only stay on for 45 min. If they wake up, they have to push a button to make light up again.
We may have to get the light man for Samantha!
It is funny that this is an issue for you right now. just a couple of nights ago ben's night light burned out in the middle of the night. He woke up and started screaming like someone was killing him. I have an ER light in there that is florescent push light. Matt turned it on thinking that would be fine, ben did not like the way it made things look. So I had to get up and get them a new light bulb for his Winnie the Pooh Lamp. Having never been afraid of the dark Matt finds this a very odd issue to deal with. I may have to look into the "glowie Buddy" I am thinking the lamp may be keeping it to bright. any way, way to go MOm Lisa! another toddler trouble solved!
I love that we have babies together!!! Seriously, where were you 8 years ago???
I am totally getting one, and not just for Rose I think the boys would die for one. Darin in particular.
Oh, so I told Ken your little side comment of does it scare you that I may...
Umm, yeah--He said, you need to catch up. And looked at me like please say you aren't going to get jealous.
Anyway after the days I've had lately. I don't think I have enough arms to hold my kids tight enough around me and protect them from scary monsters.
BTW- Everything is good we had a nice long chat about it.
Great night light ......you always find the best solutions to the kids' needs. Haven't seen these in our neck of the woods but they seem to be perfect.
Whatever works, right??
