First Trip Out

Yesterday we took the boat out for the first ride of the season. It was a perfect afternoon! The weather was wonderful, the boat was running great, the kids were super excited, the baby loved his new life vest, and there weren't that many people out on the lake.


We drove around to a couple water-side restaurants, but mainly we just got to know our lake. James wanted to swim SO bad, but the water was still a tad on the chilly side. Not that that would stop him, but it stopped Dad so swimming for James will have to wait until a little bit later in the season. But we parked and he played around on the swim deck and dangled his feet. Izzy is still a little water waryy, but she enjoyed watching the other boats driving by and the birds swimming/flying around us. Wyatt spent 90% of the time asleep in my lap. He loves his new vest!




I'd like to say we had a completely fantastic first trip out. But I can't. There was an incident:


Yup, I bent the prop! I did an excellent job launching the boat and then swinging around to pick JL up, but alas, getting the boat back on the trailer wasn't quite as easy. Somehow I got a teensy weensy bit too close to the ramp and hit it trying to back up. Oops. I felt awful! Luckily, we were able to take it to a local shop today and the damage wasn't as bad as I first thought. And the repair isn't near as expensive as I first thought. But as scary as it sounds, the only real solution: I have to drive more often! Huh? Did you SEE the above picture?
