The Great Campout

The camping chapter in our family life has begun. And we started it out great! Last year, we camped a couple times only to note that our 3 man tent was quickly becoming too small for all of us. So this year, we decided to order a new, 7 man tent. Although it looked HUGE when we first set it up, it fit us just fine. 2 cots, a playpen, and 3 kids really occupy some space. Add to it a dog on our next trip and we'll be at capacity. :-)

JL putting up our new tent

The wildlife was eager to meet us

Getting our dinner ready. On the menu: enchilada casserole

Dinner is cooking - time for a walk

Walking: Izzy style

James walking ahead to scope out some good skippin' rocks

We thought the campground was just beautiful!

JL can't be too far from his lake

Cookin' smores

So excited to be in the tent!

Drunk on chocolate, marshmallows and fun

Listening to the great, amazing story about auntie Myrt and Ralph and the ranger riding the moose

By morning, Izzy had climbed in with Dad, stole his blankets, and about froze him out

How do you fit 2 adults and 3 kids on 2 cots? Oh, it can be done

Wyatt LOVES camping!

We set up his playpen in the great outdoors and he would sit, kick, goo, and look at the trees

Eventually he'd doze off

James & Izzy chasing butterflies

Breakfast is cookin'

Nothin' like baked oatmeal!

Time to break camp. James and Izzy like to roll the air out of the tent

We took a nature walk after leaving our campsite. The wildflowers were so pretty!

The cactus were just starting to bloom out

We stopped by the beach on our way out

Daddy and James went for a swim

Me, Wyatt, and Izzy watched from the shore. Tiredness was starting to set in.

We can't wait to go back in a couple weeks!!
