For example:
We're at the HEB the other day and a sweet older woman walks up to us and says "these children are all so adorable and sweet!" To which James says "Thanks. You're an old lady. Are you a grandma?" She smiled and was polite, but after she left us I explained to James that we don't always say what's on our thoughts and that sometimes it isn't polite. I told him instead to say "Thank you Ma'm."
Example two:
A moment ago we were sitting out on the deck playing and watching the neighbors . A jogger went by and James immediately yelled out "Hello! Why is your belly hanging over your shorts?" Thankfully, the jogger had headphones in - but STILL I about died!
So much for my lesson on not saying everything that's on his mind!

Thank you for the laugh. I really hate that stage. We've all been there.
ugh! I am not looking forward to that stage! it is worse when they are super smart like James, they come up with things I would not think of heading off. we are working on similar issue with ben. he growls at me, yells "no" or other such things. He is learning that those things are "ugly" as they say down here, and they earn him a disipline. Good luck! Hope this doesnt last long, James is so congnizant that I am sure you will only have to explain it a couple more times!
Funny, funny stuff! At least he's got honesty figured out.
Like the saying goes: "Out of the mouths of babes oft times come gems!" .....and James is obviously full of gems!
